As part of the project, "Cubism in the Country", an exhibition and lecture on the unique
Czech conception of this early 20^th century stylistic period will be given at partner
university "Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo" from 20th May to 1st June 2011
Norwegian University "Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo" has become a partner
institution of the project, "Cubism in the Country", developed from 2008 to 2010 by the
Czech Cubism Foundation. The project is supported by the EHP Financial Institution under
the Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway Fund, and by the Norwegian financial institution.
In the course of the project, part of the interior and furnishings of Bauer's Villa have
been reconstructed, replicas of period wallpaper and flooring have been installed, and
part of the original wall paintings have been renovated .In April 2010, the Museum and
Gallery of Cubist Design was opened in the newly-restored Bauer's Villa, in keeping with
the concept of ''Hausmuseum'', a museum of design and architecture housed in one
edifice. Bauer's Villa recreates the atmosphere of the early 20^th Century through its
display of period furniture and the largest collection of cubist ceramics in the world.
An exhibition on Czech Cubism in architecture and design introducing Bauer's Villa, the
Museum and Gallery of Cubist Design, and the project "Cubism in the Country", will open
on 20th May 2011 at 12.30pm in the gallery of project partner, University "Arkitektur- og
designhøgskolen i Oslo". On 23rd May 2011 at 12.30pm, the lecture "Cubism in
architecture and Design: The Czech Eruption, 1910-1925" will be given by PhDr. Jan Michl,
professor at "Institut for form, teori og historie" of University AHO (www.aho.no).
